I moved to Toronto from Alberta in 1986 to escape the terrible recession that existed there at the time. My objective was to become a residential home builder and developer after studying architecture and urban planning in Edmonton. And truth be told, I got off to a good start in Toronto and I had a really good run until the 1991 recession – the worst since the Great Depression! So after being beaten twice by harsh economic conditions, I decided to unplug my Skilsaw, hang up my pouch, get married, and study at the University of Toronto. I graduated in 1996 with a Bachelor of Commerce degree and I’ve been working downtown in the financial services industry since then. But I never lost my interest in urban planning and development and I continue to read books and articles about the subject. I have lived just north of The Queensway with my wife since 1991 and with our son who was born a year later.
I want to be Ward 5 Councillor because I am confident that I can make a positive difference in the way our community develops in the short and long terms. I have excellent research, analytical, team building and communication skills that are necessary for the job. More importantly, I’m very energetic, creative and innovative as the pages of this website demonstrate. Finally, I have never been a member of any political party nor have I ever worked for or invested in any real estate development or holding company. I value my independence.
But even the best councillors need input and feedback from their ward residents. So I would like to hear from you.
